Does It Really Matter? As you may know, it doesn't really matter which current direction you use as circuit analysis and design works either way. In fact, this issue only affects DC that flows in only one direction. In alternating current, electrons flow in both directions, moving back and forth at the frequency of operation.

Nope, wrong. In reality the electrons and protons carry electric charges of equal strength. If electrons are "electricity", then protons are "electricity" too. Now everyone will rightly tell me that the protons within wires cannot flow, while the electrons can. Yes, this is true... but only true for metals.

A purely resistive load (an incandescent lamp, for example), will work just fine either way; the current can flow in either direction and have the same effect (light and heat). However, the polarity of the plug ensures a degree of safety.

Originally, I was just going to test it with my voltmeter to identify the wires, but unfortunately there's no power to this part of the circuit right now, regardless of the breaker being on, due to everything upstream being disconnected while locating/troubleshooting a different problem on this circuit, which has been identified but a new cable will need to be ran for that problem (or an approved in-wall splice kit) so I was trying to get the unaffected downstream devices buttoned back up.

So, from what I understand, the electricity flows from the Battery's positive terminal to the negative. This means that at the top breadboard, the electricity passes from the resistor at first, then from the led, and then goes to the ground. So far so good. My question arises at the second breadboard, at the bottom.
